Synopsis

Set in the spiritual heart of Assam, Kingkor follows the journey of a young boy raised in a Satra, deeply immersed in the rich dance and music traditions of Srimanta Sankardev’s 550-year-old Neo-Vaishnavite legacy. Though grounded in these spiritual and cultural teachings- especially those of peace and non-violence- Kingkor harbors a modern outlook and a burning sense of justice. Disturbed by the growing issue of illegal immigration threatening his homeland’s identity and harmony, he takes it upon himself to act. But as his convictions clash with the non-violent values he was raised with, Kingkor finds himself in a painful moral dilemma. His inner conflict between inherited tradition and emerging activism becomes the core of his coming-of-age journey. Kingkor is a powerful exploration of faith, identity, and resistance, asking whether one can remain true to tradition while confronting harsh realities in a changing world.
