Synopsis
Delong Padung is a young, prolific cultural worker from Pashighat area of Arunachal Pradesh. His name is synonymous with the enrichment of rich folklore of Adi Tribe both in and outside of the state. He is a highly accomplished folk performer, choreographer, lyricist and folk singer. He has not only preserved the chaste oral tradition of his state but also expanded its horizon extensively. His mission to preserve the dying indigenous cultural practices and transmit to new generations have proved to be quite effective. As a singer he lends voice in sixteen local languages and sings in Assamese and Mising language primarily. In recognition of his remarkable contributions in the field of Folk Music of Arunachal Pradesh, he was conferred with ‘Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar’, 2013-14 by the Sangeet Natak Akademy (GoI).
Born at Rayang village, East Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh, Delong Padung inherited his love of the folklore of
Arunachal Pradesh from his forefathers.
